If it takes 21 psi boost to hit the load target, consider lowering the target.

If you are overshooting the target, you need to reduce BCS DC base and/or adjust the req load accel/decel multipliers.

Is it a spike or steady 21psi?

Spike then drops to around 20 then tapers off to 17@ 6k, my targets are [email protected], 2.05@ 2.5k, 2.15@ 3k and 4k then down to [email protected]
If I just taper the loads down from the 100% app to stock levels at minimum app, then it doesn't go above 20 but the car seems to be sluggish. I suppose it's about trying to find a balance. now I know why people boost tune, it's a lot easier to hit a target psi.

but you almost need two maps for winter/summer with boost tuning

Load is the more accurate measure of strain on the engine than boost is.

Boost is strain on the piddly turbo though?

You are concerned with both. If boost exceeds the efficient range of the turbo, then you get hot air and knock. If load exceeds the mechanical limits of the engine, you get aluminum bits and oil in the pavement.

Steve, taking that into account, what is the highest load you have used or reccommend using on the stock block with the typical bolt ons that we run with? Just after some info as I'm at 2.1 peak load now and do not have any idea when I should stop increasing it!

So what is "safe" load and "efficient" psi?
Is 21psi ok in the low to mid rpm ranges? I know up top it should be around 16psi.

Last time I was out for a drive in the cold weather - 0 celcious I was only getting 12psi boost, when it was hot weather - above 15 celcious I was getting 15psi boost.

Ps. 15 or above is hot in the Scottish highlands!! :(

I need to do more logging, however the snow has halted all progress.

You must be pushing the stock turbo to its limit skip?

I would think so :burnrubber
I think the next course of action for me is to keep the 100% app load as it is, taper it down and then get the BCS base dialled in and the DBW table sorted. Then I'll look at maybe populating some of the higher app positions with higher loads to get that "boost" feeling.
I know the car is making good power at the minute but it feels tame. idk, I've fucked around that much I don't know what's fast and what's not anymore! :banghead
