Re: New uk member - Getting started
Blue Screens are driver or hardware related. When there is any interruption or crash while flashing, the ECU can not be reflashed via the normal means.
We are integrating the flash recovery into VersaTuner.

Nice one, the easier the better.
Is it unlikely to do it again?

Re: New uk member - Getting started
It's hard to say. I have done a LOT of flashes and logging and have only seen a BSOD a few times. Only when logging, never while flashing. I suspect mine were related to having suspended and woken the laptop with the J2534 connected prior to logging with it. When in doubt, do a fresh boot and wait for the hard drive to settle down before flashing.

FYI - if VersaTuner sees the stock flash backup file on your computer, you won't have to go through the 25 minute backup process when you re-install VersaTuner.

Re: New uk member - Getting started
i had this happen to me, at 10 at night, made a phone call and was back up and running to drive to work in the am!.
i know my problem was i bumped the cable with my leg in the middle of the flash, it lost connection at the data link connector.i had some loose pins, fixed those and put a y cable in. Dont have any problems now and dont have to switch from the tactrix and the dashhawk

I got myself a 'Y' splitter however it is quite long when items plugged in, enough so it would catch your leg now and again.... Don't use it anymore. Did you get yours from eBay?

On the UDSM 6, I popped the OBD-II connector out of the bracket under the dash and tucked it behind the console. I don't know if you have enough spare wire on your harness to do that.

Re: New uk member - Getting started
Good idea that actually!! Maybe I'll do something similar
Question in general: As I will now have this map with the grimmspeed ebcs tables, will I need a special valet map made up with the same table? Whenever I put car in for mot or service, maintenance work etc I would like to use 'valet' mode. Reduced output and reduced limiter to 5000 revs. But I obviously don't want to be changing about the solenoid....
Also would I need to set up my fuel trims in valet mode?
Advice appreciated

Re: New uk member - Getting started
You might want to copy your custom MAF calibration. The rest should take care of itself. It's not massively detuned, but it's not a thrill ride either. If you want to really limit it, reduce the DBW throttle tables.
