Another CX7

Post by xawahl »

So just bought my 07 CX7 a couple weeks ago...and the mod bug hit...TIP SRI, Forge V2 and Grimmspeed BCS installed...next is FMIC, KO4 from a 2011 Speed3, Speed6 M2 downpipe, Autotech Fuel Pump Internals and a good tune on the Versatuner...

Any advice on things to watch out for....motor on it has a 25k mile rebuild previously...timing chain is tight, already flushed diffs and tranny, and walnutted the intake manifold...

Watch for knock and also keep an eye on the fuel rail pressure and make sure it meets the targets for those situations, especially the open loop/high load targets.

Yep for sure...going to to some datalogging tonight

Does anyone know with the CX7 if the Speed6 Downpipe is a direct fit or is there some tweaking that needs to be done.

The Speed6 M2 downpipe is not a direct fit...its a long downpipe that replace the 2 cat

On the CX-7, the second cat is welded on the midpipe (which goes from the downpipe to the muffler...its not the same setup as the Speed6)

If you want a detailled view of the CX-7 and Speed6 exhaust setup look here : http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/

However, you can make it fit by cutting at the right lentgh and welding the appropriate flange

Only worry about knock under high load and RPM.

Do not be afraid to run lots of advance at low RPM's up to 2500rpm. The ECU will pull timing quickly and not cause you issues. I ran 6 degrees of extra advance for years (~40,000km), and never ever had a problem.
