98RON high load with SRI

Post by Just_Jack1991 »

Hello again, while I'm waiting for my cable to come along i installed VT on my laptop last night and had a look around at some maps, typed in high load into the maps search thingy and found a 98 HL with SRI, I have a SRI and TIP, would it be best to use this map over the plain HL map?

If you have a SRI then you should use a map suited for a SRI. That is the whole point of having access to custom tuning.
For the high load MAP i highly recommend having upgraded fuel pump internals. Take a WOT log after a day or two after flashing that map and post it here.

My HPFP internals are on there way at the moment, supposedly the high load maps were made using standard pump internals? I can't put any maps on until I have the VL cable so I'm just having a look at what's available at the moment

All the OTS calibrations are supposed to work fine with an OEM HPFP, assuming that the HPFP is in mint condition and performs properly. I've seen fuel pumps struggling even with a Hypertech tune which is less aggressive than the high load tune you can find in the VT library.
Since so far you invested at least $1000 in your tuning (the SRI + VT), why not spend like 450 more on an upgraded HPFP piston + labour and not risk a $4000-9000 repair for your motor? I'm not a tuning specialist or an e-tuner so I can't say I know exactly how these things go, but I've seen a lot of things happening in these 7+ years of tuning these engines and personally I can only recommend this, I will not state this as a mandatory modification you have to do to use these maps.
Anyway, with an upgraded HPFP you can target 10% more load (2.2) which you can also hit with a few mods (such as a TMIC and/or an exhaust).
