Recover Current Tune RX8

Post by Evomonza »

Hello everyone.
I live in Spain and I'm a complete newbie with Versatuner.
I have a 40th anniversary RX8. I bought it 5 years ago with a tune done with Mazdaedit with modifications focused on engine protection + modified dwell for D585 coils
The only thing I want until I learn this trade is to keep my tune that is OK for me and on this tune go back to the original dwell because I'm going to put the original Mazda Spec C coils.
Versatuner has made a backup of my tune, but I'm unable to get my tune out of this backup.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry for my poor English

Thanks

VersaTuner does not allow you to view and edit the previous tune of the car to protect the intellectual property of the previous tuner. You will have to start with our prebuilt tunes or with the stock tune when building a tune.
You can still go back to the previous tune by click "Return Car to Stock" at any time.

Thank you for your reply.
If it is as you say, I regrettably think I wasted my money on Versatuner.
I had many doubts between buying Mazdaedit and Versatuner. I finally bought Versatuner because friends told me that Mazdaedit's customer service was better.
Of course, I respect all opinions, but frankly I don't understand the intellectual property thing, in a stock RX8 that has only protection measures and the modification of the coil dwell.
I don't know who made the modifications since I bought the car like that.
I'm simply going to change the coils for the original ones and I need to modify the dwell.
In Spain the RX8 is a rare car and has a very bad reputation. There are no specialists who could make modifications for me.
I had 3 options. The first option was to remove the car's ECU and send it to England, which I didn't like at all, due to transport issues, customs...
The second option was Mazdaedit, which allowed me to make the modification I wanted, it was cheaper and in Europe it is practically the only one used.
The third option was Versatuner, with which I thought I could do what I wanted, and although it was more expensive, a priori it had better customer service and was easier to use for a real novice like me.

I suppose it is my fault for not informing myself well, but honestly at no time did it occur to me that I could not modify the software of my car.
This in Spain and even in Europe is unimaginable, that after spending $300, they tell you that you have thrown it away and that the software that should allow you to modify the ECU of your car does not allow you to do so.

I hope I have explained myself well, given my low level of English

Thank you for your attention

I forgot to say that my license is linked to my VIN. It is not a professional license that I can use on any car.

What intellectual property am I going to violate?
I just want the car to run as it does now and be able to put new original Mazda coils in it.

For me it is a real pain since I am a real novice.

It makes no sense to me to put my engine at risk with a programming of an American car designed for a very different gasoline than ours.

I don't know if there is a solution, but the truth is that I am deeply upset and disappointed.

Thanks

Check your PM. Also, your mazdaedit tune comes from ASAP Racing, Madrid, bc everyone get their tunes from him.
