Increased oiling injection rate - 6 port 91US/95EU Octane Stage 1... tune

Post by Tedley »

Good afternoon,

I would appreciate clarification in how the increased oil injection table is applied with respect to Oil Injection Throttle 1 and 2 tables. The values in these tables are all set to zero so my assumption there is nothing influencing oil injection rates related to throttle position. My assumption is only load influences the injection rate (from Oil Injection - Load 1 and 2 tables).

My concern arises from paranoia after modifying the Throttle Map for a linear throttle response (from Zen's DBW tune). I have modified the "canned" tune (6-port: 91US/95EU Octane Stage 1 RX-8 with REVi Intake and TurboXS catless exhaust) over time to change fan triggers and throttle response. I've run the tune now for over a year with no changes in compression values, just want to better understand why two of the oil injection tables are zeroed out.

The tune in question is attached.

Thanks,

I second this, please clarify what the throttle 1 and throttle 2 tables are doing 0'd out.

Also, what exactly are the Load 1 and Load 2 tables? Load 1 goes to about 500 while Load 2 goes to 1500. Logically, these are load based tables, but when do each switch to the other? Or are they tables for the side injectors, and the center injectors respectively?

Thanks

The 6-port: 91US/95EU Octane Stage 1 RX-8 with REVi Intake and TurboXS catless exhaust tune was built on the N3M5EK calibration which has two oil injection tables, one load, one throttle. The only zero values are in the first row of the throttle table. These are also zero in the OE calibration. It is possible that your specific calibration has additional tables. In that case, the values in the additional tables woudl be the OE values.

Please feel free to share your calibration ID, and I will look at it further.

FYI in Tune Editor, the bold values are values that are different from the comparison tune which by default is the stock tune.

Thank you so much for your reply! I see, what do the two different load injection tables do in the Series 2 RX-8? I attached pictures of the two different tables. (Load 1 and Load 2)

I didn't notice that this was related to Series II.

In Series I, both the load and throttle table are used.

The throttle based oil injection functionality exists in Series II, but is unused. That is why the zeroes are there.

The two load tables are a part of a complex calculation. It's possible that the Load 1 table is a minimum.
