Rebuilder offering street port. Tune needed correct?

Post by TheLoneVaultBoy »

Hello, I am getting my engine rebuilt, and I was offered a street port if wanted. My limited understanding is that I will want a port in or order to have handle the changes. Does versatune come with a fix for this issue, or will this require E-Tuning?

Hey,

Bit late to your party.

The standard tune will run on a street port or a bridgeport.

The standard tune will need to be optimised to suit your porting. TBH the stock tune can also be optimised to improve output.

Versatune doesn't have live tuning so it is a bit of a process and you have to find someone with a dyno who can optimise it for you.

Or you can do what a lot of us do, and that is log drives and fiddle with the tune until it runs better. This will take time and will not be 100% correct.

My lonely opinion is that I have see enough evidence or have come across enough people to say a street port is a good addition in that it improves output without impacting on general driveability unlike a bridgeport.

Make sure you get the exhaust port seen to by removing the shelf that collects carbon.
