SkyActiv Diesel Dyno Sheet

Post by Steve @ VersaTune »

Fresh off the dyno, we now have hard numbers for VersaTuner on the SkyActiv diesel platform.

These numbers are from the stock 150hp tune, our 150hp to 175hp upgrade tune, and our base v1.10 tune.
Testing was done on a 2015 Mazda6 150hp w/ manual transmission.

The VersaTuner base tune makes +53hp over the 150hp tune and +31hp over the 175hp tune.

With stock EGT limits in place!

We're still working on refining the base tune and making more power.

Hello Steve and congratulations for the results, but it is unclear for me the base tune version that you've mentioned in your post: you said that the version used for Dyno testing is 1.10, but in my versatune application the only recent base tune version that appears is 1.06 (I have the exact same car that you used for testing - 2015 Mazda 6 SkyActiv-D manual transmission 2.2 150 HP).

Have you released another base tune besides 1.06 ?

Also, please tell me if you've managed to test and obtain some hard numbers for 1.06 base tune version regarding the HP / torque increase compared to the stock 150 HP / 380 NM.

Thanks for the reply and congratulations once more for the great results !

v1.08 tunes have been published. 1.08 is within 1hp of 1.10 but had less oscillation at high rpm. I am working on cleaning up 1.10 before I publish it. The high rpm cleanup won't affect peak hp.

So Steve, do you recommend us to flash the 1.08 version or should we wait for 1.10?

Also, please tell us what is the torque gain of 1.08 compared with stock 150HP version.

Install v1.08. It makes great power and tested very well in on the road use.

v1.08 was within 1hp of v1.10 on the dyno this Saturday. It added 52hp over the stock 150hp tune. I suspect that once the tune settles, it will be even higher. We are working on changes to the flashing process so that you get full power from a tune immediately after flashing.

OK, got it, I will install 1.08, thanks Steve.

What about the torque gain of 1.08 version compared to stock version? Dyno test doesn't show a big gain (only from 380 NM to around 400 NM).

I think this is because of the fresh flash of the ECU. We are working on this. I would expect the numbers to come up after some drive cycles.

Hello again Steve, just returned from a 250km test drive and can confirm that 1.08 feels way better than 1.06, so congrats again for the great job!
I've also noticed that my fuel consumption has increased by 1-1.5 l / 100 km while driving on highway with constant speed on auto pilot (130-140 km/h) - can you confirm that 1.08 comes with an increased fuel consumption over 1.06 or is this only happening to me ?

I think that is a part of the freshly flashed ECU behavior. That tune does not make any changes to low and part load operation. Highway cruising should not be affected. See if it improves over time, possibly after a DPF regen cycle..
