Rapidly climbing EGT

Post by azkaz »

Hi all.
I have a GEN 1 2012 CX5. VT works well except for one major problem. Any VT tune causes EGT to skyrocket and in -0100 runs they max out (Approx 740 degress) around 75 klms causing major cuts and fuel and boost by the ECU.
As I understand it, the ECU is doing its job correctly.
The problem is the rapidly rising EGT's!
If someone can tell me how to attach logs I can upload them.
Stock is fine, but any tune other than that causes this problem.
As it stands, my car is in the 9's 0-100. A bit disappointing. :cry
I appreciate any suggestions or learning if others are having similar problems.

Please record some logs that demonstrate the behavior, then open the "Logs" tab, check the logs that you want to export and click "Share selected...". The logs will be placed in a zip file. To attach it here use the "Upload attachment" tab below (make sure you are in the full editor).
Thanks!

Hi, unfortunately I have uploaded them to my pc, unzipped them and deleted the zipped folders. Do you have another suggestion?

It looks like the stock/base log was taken with the previous version which had a bug in the EGT scaling.

Try returning to stock and taking a new log with the current version of VT. You will see similar EGTs.

This platform is EGT limited with stock hardware.

Ok will do. Do you have base/stock log for comparison that I could look at?

Thanks

Hi! Finally had time to load the original stock tune as directed.
Have done about 50 klms so should be settled in. I have uploaded the 0-100 log as requested.
I noted the problem has disappeared with the stock tune. It pulls evenly, all the way, temp reaches 720 degrees approx then levels out with no noticeable drop off in power.
On the VT tunes, it hits the EGT limit then pulls fuel and boost HARD. I can feel the car "die" under me and acceleration drops off dramatically.

Thanks
Aaron

Me either yet! That's why I've handed it back to VT! Sorry to hear your having the same problem, but glad I'm not alone. Do you have a base log or other logs you can share for comparison?
