Ignition cut rev limiter possible?

Hi guys,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to replace the factory fuel cut rev limiter with a (popcorn) ignition cut rev limiter. The reason I am asking is that sometimes when I have to accelerate fast, I end up hitting the limiter. And with it being a fuel cut limiter which I know Mazda only chose in order to protect the catalyst from having lots of unburned fuel dumped into it (as with an ignition cut), I’m a bit concerned about LEAN AFR peaks, even if for a split second... But I have a decat pipe, so there’s no catalyst to destroy.
Thanks.
