this is actually not true. but you cant access that protocol with an obd diagnostics tool. every ECU manufacturer has a tool they can use to tune their ECU live. Thought such tool costs upwards of 10ooo$/€

Ive had a pleasure to see one in action, and if tuners would use it they could offset the cost of a standalone units. :bouncinggrins

Dear versatune! Have you forgotten about the RX8 ? There has been no development for quite sometime. We have paid for your software then been left in the dark as you concentrate on newer non rotary vehicles. Please give us something!!
