Re: Versatuner for the Mazda 3 MPS
We spent some time on the dyno today with a 100% stock MAZDASPEED3. The Speed3 kicked ass.
Too bad the poor little K04 runs out of breath so soon.
We couldn't do any better than 250 ish WHP on a Mustang Dyno. Torque was a nice 289 at the wheels.
We ran out of time to finish tweaking the tune. I think there's a little more power hiding in there.
I'll post some dyno sheets once I sort through them all and figure out which is which.
We have a good set of base tunes now. In a few weeks, we'll do some more dyno work to wring out the last few hp/tq.

250 isn't bad on a mustang, you could call that at least 10bhp more on a dynojet, which would give gains of around 30whp?

Sounds good to me.
Can't wait.

Re: Versatuner for the Mazda 3 MPS
With the stock turbo being the limiting factor, max hp really depends on air temperature. We can increase torque dramatically below where the K04 max's out, and we can hold the K04 at max flow to red line, but we can't force more air into the turbo than it is able to flow. On a hot day, a stock car will yield the same peak hp with a stock tune and a full out race tune. A CAI, DP, and exhaust help raise the ceiling a bit, but the K04 is the limiting factor.
What we are able to do is significantly increase the "area under the curve". This makes the car faster over the whole rpm range rather than a focus on a single peak number.

I hope you all have lots of spare tyres. You're going to need them

Nice!! It'll be interesting to see what we can get out of a fully bolted one.
