I installed the PTP WGA today and fixed my boost fade problem. The boost was dropping off due to the wastegate blowing open. The pressure differential across the wastegate due to the 3" catless DP was too much for the stock WGA to hold.
Unfortunately, I see my fuel pressure dropping to 740 PSI at WOT now. So, there will be a little delay in the high load testing. I am hitting 2.35 load now. Once I get the HPFP upgraded and turn up the boost, I should be able to test > 2.5 load.
I put the 3" catless DP on when I put the new engine in. After I cleared the crap out of the wga restrictor, it would spike up to 15 - 16 psi or so then start dropping at 4000 rpm to about 10psi at redline. The boost contol solenoid was at 100% duty from 4k on.
With the PTP WGA and stock wga restrictor ID, it spiked to 20 - 22 psi then faded to 15 psi at redline with 0% bcs DC. I opened the WGA restrictor ID up from stock 1mm to 1/16" which is about 1.9mm. Now it spikes to 18 - 20 then fades back down to 15. I will try opening the restrictor to 5/64" or 3/32" to get the spike under control. I have a high flow solenoid coming soon that I will use to compensate for the larger WGA restrictor ID. I'm looking to run at least 18psi from 3k - 7k.
My afr's are still ok, but fuel pressure is uncomfortably low. I should have the HPFP in this week.
Its a fairly standard 3 port solenoid. Lots of companies sell it under their various labels. Grimmspeed makes one that is plug in play for the Mazdaspeed 3/6's. (Can operate in bleed mode like stock or interrupt mode for lower duty cycles)
Im running the grimmspeed and yes its plug and play into the stock harness. Here is a log from my etune from christian @ Cobb. Im running it in interrupt mode. (see the low duty cycles? ^-^)
