Question about the performance maps (98EU + 98EU high load)

Post by lincsmps6 »

Hi, I have just purchased this tuner and waiting for the download, really looking forward to playing around:)
Just a few questions about the performance maps that can be downloaded.
Do these maps remove the stock boost limiter from the lower gears?
Is smooth shift available with the high load map and how does it work?
Is the high load map still considered a 'safe' map suitable for long term remap?
Can someone explain the open throttle map - does this give more or less performance than the other 2 mentioned above?

Cheers... :D

Thank you for purchasing VersaTuner and welcome aboard!

The base 93/98 and the high load 93/98 tunes increase the requested load in the lower gears. They increase the requested load in all gears for that matter.

Smooth shift is available with every tune. It is set in the tune customizer and applies to every tune you flash. To enable it, check the box in tune customizer, then flash any tune on your car. Tune customizer is meant to control things that are persistent between tunes, like suppressing codes from a egr or cat delete, smooth shifting, or launch control. These things are usually set once and do not change even if you mod your car.

The high load map is still fairly conservative with AFRs and timing. It is asking for pretty much all that a stock car can deliver in terms of air flow from the K04 turbo.

The open throttle tune is a totally stock tune except for the drive by wire throttle control. The open throttle tune keeps the throttle open till redline, whereas the stock tune starts to close the throttle at around 5000 RPM. It's there for people who also have piggyback tuning hardware, or are migrating from a piggyback system to a VersaTuner flash only system.

Don't hesitate to ask questions. Myself or the helpful and knowledgeable members here are happy to help.
