Economiser Tune

Post by Col »

I'm thinking of using the Economiser tune for my day to day commuting.

I was just curious what went in to it so to speak - in real terms, how much more economical is it?

and performance wise, how does it compare to the stock tune?

Thanks

Well, probably you need to try it out and let us know the mileage difference. That tune runs leaner at least for low and moderate loads, and lower than stock per/gear load targets in the mid rev range, and one extra degree of timing in the mid rev range. This is normally the recipe for better fuel economy.
It should be indeed more economical but if you can hold yourself from driving hard I guess you can get pretty much the same fuel economy as with, say, the high load map. From my experience you don't really need to push the acceleration pedal more than 16% when driving in town.

A file I have been toying with gives me around 10-15% better economy in daily driving. I'm pretty sure this is very easy to achieve.
