Is my tune stock..???

Hi all,

I just bought an '08 Mazda 3 2.3T and need to know if the tune is stock?

Had it since last week, and the previous owner claimed it is "all stock except for the air filter" - it definitely has an after market air filter and MAF housing. He has only owned it for a couple of years, so maybe he thinks it is stock?

Here's the thing - took it for an energetic drive on the weekend, and it crackles and pops on decel, and seems to be pumping fuel through. I also pulled the lower back seat for cleaning, and found harness mounting points. :eyepop

I'm looking to buy Versatune, but read this: "before you use VersaTuner, you will have to uninstall any 3rd party reflash-based solutions from your car". So - what are my options...? If Versatune does a full re-map, then it shouldn't matter what is currently on there, should it?

Thanks

Aftermarket tunes on that generation of Mazdas often lock the ECU to prevent being overwritten by other tuning solutions. That's why they need to be removed.
Please use this app to check whether your ECU is locked: https://www.versatuner.com/downloads/Ve ... er-GDS.exe

Thanks for the reply. I'm waiting on an adapter, and will check as soon as I can.

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't think that crackle and pop was stock. All good, at least now I know I can access the ECU
