Hi everyone,
I’m currently tuning my 2022 Mazda 3 BP Gen 4 2.0L NA (automatic transmission) using VersaTuner Full. I’m running the 94US / 98EU Octane PT Crackle and Pop tune, and everything works great so far.
Now I’d like to implement a form of launch control for my setup. I know that, since the car is automatic, I can’t rely on clutch-based activation, but I noticed there are maps like:
Stationary Rev Limiter VSS Limit – currently set to 2 km/h
Stationary Rev Limiter 1 & 2 – currently unset (I’m thinking of setting them around 3000–3200 RPM)
Fuel cut and throttle reduction – untouched for now
Before I proceed with testing, I have a few questions:
What’s the correct way to configure a basic launch RPM for an automatic transmission using these maps?
Is there any way to condition this on brake input or gear position (e.g., only in Drive or Manual mode)?
Any tips to tune the pops/crackles while holding at the stationary RPM for more aggressive sound?
Are there any risks for the transmission or TCU when revving with the brake applied?
I’d appreciate any help or insights from others who’ve tried something similar with an NA automatic. Thanks a lot in advance!
