I installed a modified version of the high-flow cat/catback tune on my '8. I'm planning on selling the car to a friend but keeping my laptop with all of my tune data on it.

As I understand it, the license follows the VIN so all he needs to do is purchase his own J2534 pass-through and he'll have access to everything.

Will he be able to use the tune as well as return to stock if I send him a copy of my VersaTuner data folder?

It's best to contact us and we will transfer the license to him. That way it will be in his name and he will receive future updates, etc.
If you want him to have the tune for the future, just click "Share" and export it as a file. He will be able to import it.
As for the stock tune backup, if VersaTuner doesn't find one in the data folder, it will just use the latest factory firmware for that car.
