OBDLink SX won’t show up in Versatuner

Post by Gotto »

I’ve been trying tons of combination of drivers versions and ai’m not anke to get the cable show up in the versatuner interface selection.
I’ve been testing the cable with obdwiz and it’s immediatly recognized and perfectly functioning.
Also updated the firmware to the latest available. Really have no clue on what to do.

Remove the device in Device Manager and delete the drivers when prompted.
Then install these drivers:
https://www.versatuner.com/Downloads/CDM21228_Setup.exe
and try again.
OBDWiz accesses the cable through a serial port, VersaTuner communicates through the FTDI library.

Neither with those drivers it will show up. Deleted, reebooted, installed new drivers, plugged the cable, installation went smooth,no yellow marks from windows. Reebooted and still no cable into VT interface selection menu. OFC Yellow led as i plug the cable in.
My concerns is about the name that the cable has under the "Bluetooth and devices" in windows settings, FT230X Basic UART, maybe that is blocking VT from showing up the interface.

I think you are right. Your cable has not been properly programmed from the factory and VersaTuner is looking for OBDLink SX or OBDLink EX in the device name.
Here is what you can do to fix that:
1. Install FT_PROG application from here: https://ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads ... taller.zip
2. Connect the cable to the USB port
3. Run FT_PROG and click F5
4. In the tree of devices expand FT EEPROM -> USB String Descriptors
5. Enter "ScanTool.net LLC" as Manufacturer and "OBDLink SX" as Product Description. Serial Number Enabled: true, Auto Generate Serial No: true, Serial Number Prefix: 11
6. Click "Program Devices" (flash icon) in the toolbar.
7. Click "Program"

Let me know if that helps.
