Torque = (Horsepower * 5252)/RPM
550hp@3000 = 962.87 ft/lb of torque. You would have to replace the entire driveline. Traction would be a serious challenge.
It would take something like 80 lbs of boost to make that kind of torque with a 2.3l.

I'm not an expert on turbo hardware, but I don't know what turbo could provide that boost profile without surge problems.

Re: What's your setup?
I'd love to experiment with variable geometry or twin scroll/divided housing turbos some day. I really love stock turbo kick at low RPMs, but I'm also tempted by the numbers of GT30 and GT35 up top.
Re: What's your setup?
Except when we can't fuel these stupid things any more. :/
ARGHH!!!

Re: What's your setup?
I tore down the transfer case and rated the shafts and gears at ~1100whp. It is very very stout, the limitation is the case and the bearing caps. I have designed one set of bearing caps and they are being machined right now, the other one I havent finished drawing up yet.
The rear diff is from the rx-8 with a different gear set, it should be pretty beefy since its designed for rwd.
We can get 500+hp rated axles, which in AWD should put them around 1000 crank hp.
The trans is the only question, but the trans case is also used in Europe in diesel cars so I think its pretty stout or it can be made to be pretty stout.

Re: What's your setup?
RX8 is rwd but it's a rotary. So no torque...159 ft-lbs. @ 5500 rpm That's about what a stock MS6 sends to the rear with the 50/50 torque split.
You'll need a dual plate clutch for sure if you want any kind of driveability.
I'm not trying to rain on your plans. Just pointing out some major obstacles.

Re: What's your setup?
Yeah Clutchmasters has a twin disk carbon clutch, its kinda pricey though.
