My Rebuild Thread
Re: My Rebuild Thread
I guess this will reduce the heat in the engine bay quite a lot.
However, I remember there was someone on MSF (phate?) who started to advise against using these blankets because they were making the exhaust housing to crack... This is why I didn't order one of these blankets for myself any more. Do you happen to know if that is a particular case only for some of the turbos? ...because I imagine you'd already know about this if it was really the case...

Re: My Rebuild Thread
I know the KO4's are prone to cracking even without a blanket. This ATP housing is quite thick. I don't have any concerns.

Re: My Rebuild Thread
You are close! I'll go through a similar process at the end of january.
Btw, what head studs are you using and how much are you torquing them to make use of that cometic head gasket?

Re: My Rebuild Thread
ARP studs torqued to 20, 40, 60, rest overnight then 72 ft-lbf final with moly assembly lube on the threads.
That's what I did last time and I did not have any head gasket issues with loads > 3.5
